(Calexico fire under investigation)...The fire was reported Wednesday in the 800 block of Paulin Avenue.

The fire was in a vacant structure. Officials say firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading, but not before it destroyed the utility equipment to an adjacent apartment building. Eight families in the apartment complex were displaced because of the damage. The damage was caused by the heat from the burning structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials say the cause of the fire is being investigated as a suspicious fire. Witnesses told fir officials they had seen individuals leaving the vacant structure minutes before the fire was noticed. The Red Cross assisted the displaced families. The structure was a wooden structure and it was pretty much completely destroyed.
