Authorities are investigating a stabbing that occurred Saturday night in El Centro.

Police were notified of a man in front of a local business who was bleeding heavily. Police, fire and ambulance crews responded. El Centro Regional Medical Center was notified that the victim would be transported to the hospital so that an air ambulance could use the helipad to transport them man to U.C. San Diego for treatment but the victim apparently died before the transfer could be made. Investigators have been questioning possible witnesses to the assault.
