It ended Thursday. District Attorney Gilbert Otero said the jury deliberated around an hour before reaching a verdict. Mercado was found guilty of two felony counts of misappropriation of public funds. Sentencing will be held in March. Otero said the guilty verdict of felony charges means Mercado will not be able to seek public office again.
