(Carrot Festival officially underway)...Royalty was crowned Friday evening.
The Coronationb and Citizen of the Year Banquet was held at the Swiss Club in Holtville. The Queen of the Festival is 17 year old Ariana Venegas. The Princess this year is 11 year old Yanesi Padilla. The Jr Princess is 5 year old Jaclyn Baeza. Helina Hoyt was named Citizen of the Year. Hoyt is the San Diego State University Imperial Valley Nursing Program Coordinator. This week The Carrot Festival Carnival opens. It will run from from February 10th through February 13 at Holt and 6th Street, from 3 to 11 pm. This Friday at 7:00 pm will be the Carrot Festival Kickoff Concert at the corner of Holt and 5th Street. On Saturday at 7:00 am will be the Carrot Festival mile and 5k Races. From 8:00 am until 4:00 pm Saturday will be the Street and Crafts Fair on Holt Avenue. The Carrot Festival Parade kicks off at 10 Saturday morning. The route is west on 5th Street from Maple to Cedar. At 11 am will be the Student Art Show. Parade Awards will be at 11:30 After the awards at the Gazebo will be the School Drumline Competition. The Mid-Way rides will run from 12 noon until 11 pm on Saturday. Sunday the Street and Craft Fair will run from 9 am till dusk. Carnival rides wil begin at 11 am on Sunday.
