A group of 26 undocumented individuals were discovered aboard a freight train near Niland early Tuesday.
U. S. Border Patrol agents were notified by a train conductor that he observed a group of people on his train that was travelling northbound near Highway 111. Agents initially located 10 individuals who did not possess the proper documents to be legally present in the U. S. Members of that group told agents that there was another group aboard the train. The train was stopped near Indio and an additional 16 undocumented individuals were taken into custody. All 26 were medically evaluated and then processed according to Border Patrol procedures.
