(46 pounds of Meth seized)....It happened last week.

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents were working. The agents encountered a 2013 Volkwagen on Intertstate 10. They conducted a stop just east of the Golf Center Parkway exit. A Border Patrol K-9 Detection Team assisted in the stop. The K-9 alerted to the trunk of the vehicle. During the inspection, agents found a spare tire was unusually heavy. A more detailed inspection resulted in the discovery of nine packages. It was determined the substance in the packages was methamphetamine  The driver, a 23 year old male, and the passenger, a 53 year old female, the vehicle and narcotics were taken to the Indio station for processing. It was determined the packages weighed 47.7 pounds and the meth had an estimated value of over $82,200. It was determined the friver and passenger of the vehicle were US citizens. The driver, vehicle and narcotics were turned over to the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
