(Citizen's Valor Award)...It was presented to James Kilcer.

The Yuma resident single handily prevent a robbery. It happened last week. Kilcer was a client at a Chevron Station on Frontage Road in Yuma last week. At around 4:30 in the morning three individuals barged into the mini-mart at the station. One of them was brandishing a firearm. Kilcer's reaction was caught on video, As soon as he saw the armed person, jumped into action, disarming the would be robber and detaining him until Sheriff's Deputies arrived. The other two suspects fled the scene. Tuesday, Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot presented the former Marine with the Citizen's Valor Award for extraordinary heroism and exceptional courage while voluntarily coming to the aid of another citizen during an incident involving criminal activity at extreme, life threatening risk in an attempt to save or protect human life. Also at the event, Kilcer was presented other tokens of appreciation from the American Legion Post 19, Marine Corps League Territrial Detachment 635, the Chevron General Manager and the Yuma community.
