The Imperial Valley weekend was marred by several traffic accidents.

At 6:18 p.m. Saturday an accident on State Route 111 in the northland of the Valley resulted in major injuries. Traffic on the highway was blocked for almost 30 minutes as a REACH Air Ambulance landed to evacuate an injured woman. 

At 6:30 Sunday morning a vehicle ended up in a canal at Mead and Bryant Roads. One person was injured.

A hit & run accident with injuries was reported at 11:30 Sunday morning at State Route 111 and Rutherford Road. The driver of one of the vehicles involved fled the scene on foot. A search for the driver was conducted by air and ground units. 

A Union Pacific Rail Road train collided with a vehicle Sunday afternoon. The accident at Wiest and Nider Roads near Flowing Wells was reported at 3:38 p.m.  There was one individual life flighted from the scene with what were described as major injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
