El Centro Police are investigating a hit and run accident that seriously injured a bicycle rider.

The accident occurred at 8:40 p.m. Saturday night on East Main Street near McCollum Street. The bicyclist was hit by red 1990 Toyota Corolla that fled the scene and was last seen southbound on Dogwood Road. The victim was transported To Stark Field by ambulance and then taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs by a Mercy Air Ambulance. Police are reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses as the investigation continues.
