The awards are to fund safety projects designed to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries on city and county roads. The funding is provided through the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program. The Imperial County Transportation Committee was awarded $158,000. The funds are for Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons near schools on Correll Road, between Dogwood Drive and Heber Avenue
