A Border Patrol canine sniffed out some bad burritos.
The canine team was at the Highway 78 immigration checkpoint when an SUV entered the checkpoint at about 3:00 p.m. Monday. The canine alerted to the vehicle and the driver was sent to secondary inspection where the canine alerted to a backpack inside the SUV. A search of the backpack led to the discovery of several small packages stuffed inside breakfast burritos. The packages contained just over 5 pounds of fentanyl worth nearly $60,000. The driver , a 37-year old lawfully admitted permanent resident was arrested.
