(Holtville house burns)....Officials say the house was abandoned.

The fire was reported Monday evening when someone called 911. Holtville fire responded and found the house in the area of Olive and 9th Street fully engulfed. County fire sent an engine to assist. The neighboring houses were evacuated. Crews fought to keep the fire from spreading to the neighboring homes. They spent 3 hours fighting the fire. It was finally extinguished and Holtville fire cleared the scene at just after 8:00 Monday night. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported. A damage estimate has not been released.
