(2021 State of the County Address)...It was presented by Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Mike Keeley.
It lasted less than 30 minutes. That includes an elaborate introduction that included the National Anthem presented at the Naval Air Facility El Centro and included the NAF Color Guard. The introduction also included comments from all five of the Board of Supervisors. The virtual State of the County Address covered the pandemic year and all the county has done. Kelley mentioned several county departments and their efforts during the pandemic year. The Public Health Department was mentioned for continuing to lead efforts to combat COVID 19 and slow the spread of the virus. The Public Administrators office was mentioned for their aid to the senior population. Also mention was the Ag Commissioners office, Cooperative Extension, Behavioral Health, Workforce and Economic Development, Social Services, Child Support Services, and especially the First Responders, including law enforcement, fire, probation and the Public Defenders office. Also mentioned was the Air Pollution Control District for their efforts to replace air filtration systems at some schools and work to control the dust from the playa at the Salton Sea. Kelley also mentioned the fiscal relief programs to assist small businesses affected by the pandemic.
