(The Board of Supervisors will send a joint resolution to the Governor)... The decision came at this week's Board meeting.
They want Governor Gavin Newsom to appoint Imperial County and Riverside County to the Quantification Settlement Agreement Joint Powers Authority. They will approach the Riverside County Board of Supervisors for a similar resolution. The JPa is currently formed by the California Department of Fish and Game and several water districts. Its purpose is to implement and fund certain obligations and limitations as part of the Quantification Settlement Agreement, signed in 2003. District 4 Supervisor Ryan Kelley said the Counties have a vested interest in mitigation of the receding Salton Sea. He said Tuesday it was important they sit at the table to ensure funding is being utilized efficiently to meet the mitigation requirements.
