El Centro Police are investigating a shorting that occurred at about 10:30 Friday morning.

Officers responded to the area of Oak and Villa Avenues after the report of a shooting. A victim was located in the 1100 block of Oak Street. Paramedics from El Centro Fire Department and American Medical Response treated the victim who was then taken by REACH Air Ambulance to Desert Regional medical center where he succumbed to his wounds. The victim is a 37-year old man whose name has not been released at this time. Witnesses described a light-colored pick up truck that was involved in the shooting. El Centro Police are asking anyone who might have information contact the ECPD Investigations Department.
