(Second election update)...It was released Thursday evening.

In the two updates released since Election Day Tuesday, none of the leaders in any of the local races have changed. However, with over 28,000 ballots still to be counted, all the races could conceivably change before the counting is over. The updates have made some of the races closer. In the race for Imperial Irrigation District Director Division 4, the challenger Javier Gonzalez is still the top vote getter with 2,107, but the incumbent Eric Ortega is only 20 votes behind with 2,087 votes. For Brawley Elementary School District Trustee, the 3 top vote getters are still Jose Luis Barrera, Kathy Prior and Esther Sanchez-Banda. With the Tirsday update, Cesar Guzman now trails Sanchez-Banda by 48 votes. The closest race is the Heber Elementary School District Trustee, the two at the top are still Pompeo Tabarez followed by Claudette J. Miranda, but Helen Diaz Molina trails Miranda by just 17 votes. Another update is expected thius evening.
