(Valley Fire)...Imperial County is feeling some of the effects.
Smoke from the fire has been drifting into the Imperial County. Among other things, the result has been a unique looking sun. The fire started near Alpine Saturday afternoon, the result of a tractor fire. According to the latest report, the fire has burned 17,345 acres, and is only 3 percent contained. Evacuation areas include Barrett Lake Dam, the Corte Madera area, South Pine Valley, as well as areas west of Japatul and Lyons Valley Road, State Route 94/Moreno Valley Road and Lyons Valley Road and areas out of Morena Reservoir and Carveacre. Evacuation centers have been set up at Steele Canyon High School and MacQueen Middle School. Cal Fire says the fire is continuing to spread rapidly, and has destroyed 36 structures, including residents, commercial and others. Two injuries have been reported. One fire fighter and one civilian.
