(A long morning for the Calipatria Fire Department)…They were called to a brush fire at close to 2:30 Thursday morning.

The fire was reported south of Calipat at Titsworth and Smith Roads. Soon after arrival a third alarm was sounded. Brawley and County Fire Departments responded to assist. One home was evacuated, but officials say the fire was kept away from it. Crews remained on scene all morning until around 12:30 in the afternoon. Officials say the fire bu8rned in patches. A total acreage estimate has not been made available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
