(Toddler drowns)…It happened Wednesday.
Yuma Fire Department was called at just before 10:30 Wednesday morning. The call concerned a drowning at a home in south-central Yuma. The Fire Department Paramedics arrived on scene to find CPR being performed on a 2 year old child. Officials say the child was found unresponsive in a backyard pool. Once removed from the pool, CPR was performed until paramedics arrived. Resuscitation efforts continued as the child was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The child and his mother were visiting from out of state. The 2 year old was last seen inside the home and was not seen leaving. The pool was fenced, but the gate was not secure. This was the third toddler to drown in Yuma in the last two months.
