Border Patrol agents arrested an MS-13 gang member Friday night.

According to the Border Patrol , at about 11:45 p.m. Friday , a vehicle made a u-turn before approaching the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City. Agents stopped the vehicle and found the driver , a U. S. citizen , was attempting to smuggle 7 illegal aliens. Record checks revealed that one of the illegal aliens is a documented Mara Salvatrucha MS-13 gang member with a criminal history. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and the MS-13 gang member is being held in federal custody for criminal prosecution.
