The driver of a stolen car led Imperial Police officers on a high speed chase Sunday afternoon,

Shortly before 1:00 p.m. officers observed a possible stolen car southbound on Highway 86 in Imperial. The driver failed to yield and continued south on Highway 86 , turned westbound on Treshill Road , northbound on La Brucherie , back eastbound on Aten Road and south again on Highway 86 / Imperial Avenue through the city of Imperial and on through El Centro with speeds reaching 100 mph. The vehicle then went west on Interstate 8 and reached speeds of 130 mph before turning off the freeway and heading northbound on Forrester Road with speeds again approaching 100 mph. The vehicle went out of control at Forrester and Murphy Roads , rolled over and ended up in a canal. The driver was not injured but he was arrested.
