(Report suspicious activity)….Especially around energy facilities.

The Imperial Irrigation District is asking the public to report suspicious activity, suspicious persons and any suspicious vehicles that may see around IID substations and generation facilities. IID’s Security Section has been investigating incidents where individuals have entered substations and generation facilities in an attempt to remove copper wire and vandalize equipment, risking their own lives and safety. Substations Step Down high voltage electricity from the transmission system to lower voltage electricity so it can be supplied to homes and businesses through distribution lines. Aside from putting themselves and the public in danger, the crimes can lead to power outages and tens of thousands of dollars in repair costs. To report suspicious activity call the IID, County Sheriff’s Office and your local police department.
