A multi-agency state enforcement strike team is in the Imperial Valley visiting businesses.

According to Governor Gavin Newsom , the goal of the strike team is to improve compliance and educate business owners about how to protect workers and the general public in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. The strike team includes representatives of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency , Health and Human Services Agency , Department of Food and Agriculture , Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development , California Transportation Agency and Office of Emergency Services. According to Labor Secretary Julie Su , the team is committed to assisting counties with safe re-opening measures. Cal / OSHA and the Labor Commissioner's Office will assist businesses with compliance on workplace safety and wage and hour laws. The initial focus is on educating employers on how to follow state and health and safety guidance and comply with paid sick leave and other employee protection programs. According to the Governor's Office , Employers that choose to continue operations without complying will be subject to investigations , citations , and other enforcement actions.
