A Brawley Police officer was arrested Friday afternoon.

Ricardo Gabriel Valdez , 32 , a Brawley Police Officer was taken into custody and charged with sexual abuse. The arrest followed a criminal investigation after the incident was reported to the Brawley Police Department on Wednesday , June 24 , 2020. The alleged sexual abuse took place while Valdez was on duty. The investigation was conducted by the Imperial County Sheriff's Office. Valdez was booked into Imperial County Jail on three felony charges and a misdemeanor. Valdez has been placed on administrative leave.
