(County and State officials meet)…It was a virtual meeting.
They discussed impacts of COVID 19. Tuesday Supervisors Luis Plancarte and Ryan Kelley, along with Imperial County Administrative staff, held a joint meeting with Dr. Mark Ghaly, Secretary of California Health and Human Services Agency, Marko Mijic, Deputy Secretary of Program and Fiscal Affairs for the California Health and Human Services Agency, Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia and Imperial County City Mayors and managers, to discuss impacts on the County due to COVID 19. County officials expressed gratitude for the State and current administration’s efforts in managing the COVID 19 pandemic and support they have provided thus far. However, the need for continued and additional resources remains high as the county’s COVID 19 cases continue to rise. On Jun 3rd the Board of Supervisors sent a letter to Governor Gavin Newsom requesting consideration to give counties local control to make decisions on reopening based on circumstances in each individual county. If the request is granted, the County plans to work closely with the County Public Health Officer and local Chambers of Commerce to develop industry guidelines to allow businesses to reopen in a gradual, safe and responsible manner.
