The Imperial County Public Health Department updated their COVID-19 numbers Friday.
No virus related deaths were recorded Friday so that number stays at 15. The number of positive cases jumped by 74 to 786 and the number of active cases increased from 378 to 439 , an additional 61 from Thursday's report. El Centro accounted for 26 of the newly diagnosed cases with Calexico adding 16 and Brawley 13. The county report is based on an additional 225 tests. Testing continues at the OptumServ drive-in site at the California Mid-Winter Fairgrounds and at the County Health Department. The 225 tests are short of the State of California guidelines that call for 280 tests per day to advance the county closer to reopening the economy.
