(Suspected smuggler arrested)…It happened at the Highway 86 Immigration Checkpoint.
It happened in the early morning hours recently. A black SUV drove up to the checkpoint. A Border Patrol k-9 detection team alerted to the vehicle, and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. Agents searched the vehicle and found several bags and packages inside the rear cargo area, where the spare tire sits. They found two bags and a gum container with methamphetamine. They also found a zip-lock bag containing pills that tested positive for fentanyl. They also found heroin in six small packages and a tin foil. In all, the agents seized 13.09 grams of fentanyl, one pound of methamphetamine and 6.4 grams of heroin, with an estimated value of $6,670. The driver, a male US citizen, the narcotics and the vehicle were all turned over to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit.
