(Face coverings now recommended)…The change was prompted by new information.
Imperial County Public Health says in light of new data about how COVID 19 spreads, officials are now supporting the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation that a cloth face covering be worn whenever people are in a community setting. County Health Officer Doctor Stephen Munday says it is extremely important to emphasize that individuals who choose to wear face coverings should continue to maintain social distancing and practicing preventive measures like frequent hand washing to protect themselves and others from COVID 19. To be effective, face coverings should be used along with all other preventative measures already in place. The cloth covering should cover the nose and mouth. It is recommended the covering be cloth, such as a handkerchief, and not N05 or surgical masks.
