(Courts Rearrange its calendar)…It is an attempt to comply with state mandates.
The mandates were passed down in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID 19. It has been decided all in-custody arraignments will be conducted by video, beginning March 25th. All out-of-custody misdemeanor arraignments will be continued for the weeks of March 23td and 30th for four weeks and trial dates will be continued for approximately six weeks. New case will be continued, upon agreement of counsel and parties and push civil and family court trials out six to eight weeks that are set in March and Early April. The court also encourages the use of the Court’s online payment services, if possible. The services can be found at imperial.courts.ca.gov. Jury selection will remain the same. It is recommended that people who do not have anything to do with a case, not attend court proceedings. The court will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed.
