A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer pleaded guilty admitting he used unreasonable force on an individual at the Calexico Port of Entry.
Esaul Bello , 53 , of San Diego , pleaded guilty to the charges in U.S. Federal Court. The incident occurred in November of 2018 while Bello was on duty at the primary vehicle lane booth at the port. Bello encountered a man who presented for admission to the U.S. Bello placed two hands around the neck of the individual and then shook him. The man was not offering any physical resistance. Bello agreed to voluntarily resign from CBP and terminate his security clearance. Bello is scheduled to be sentenced on June 20, 2020.
