(Buckman Springs Rest Area)….Next month you may want to take a potty break before leaving for San Diego.

Cal Trans says beginning in March they will be closing the Interstate 8 Buckman Springs rest area for a year. A sewer/Water Systems Restoration Project will require fully closing the Rest Area for about a year. The Rest Area is on Interstate 8 just east of the Border Patrol checkpoint. The closure could begin as early as March 2nd. The project will include the construction of a new sewage treatment system. The work is needed to bring the rest area into compliance with state and federal water quality standards. It is estimated that 110,000 travelers use the Buckman Springs Rest Area annually.
