(It is now official)…The City of El Centro has a Deputy Police Chief.
The El Centro City Council gave its stamp of approval Tuesday night. Robert Sawyer is the new second in command at the El Centro Police Department. It had been announced days ago when Sawyer resigned as the Brawley Police Chief. The Deputy Chief Position is new to the El Centro Department, taking the place of Executive Commander Position, which was eliminated. Sawyer had served as a Commander with the El Centro Police Department before taking the Brawley position. El Centro Mayor Efrain Siva said at the City Council Meeting Tuesday that the council was excited to welcome the new Deputy Chief back to El Centro. Sawyer said it was an honor and a privilege to serve the City of Brawley, and it was hard to leave, but he looked forward to returning to the Department where he began his law enforcement career.
