(60 pounds of meth seized)….It happened at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Highway 111.

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents were working the checkpoint this week. At around 10:30 in the morning a Border Patrol canine detection team alerted to a Ford pickup. The vehicle and the 57 year old driver were sent to the secondary inspection area. During the inspection, agents discovered packages of methamphetamine hidden inside the cab wall and at the head of the truck bed. The packages weighed over 63 pounds and had an estimated value of $127,000. The driver, a citizen of Mexico, the vehicle and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
