The teen was attempting to cross the International Border from Mexicali. The Customs and Border Protection officer referred the 2012 Ford Focus the teen was driving to the secondary inspection area, after a canine detection team alerted to the vehicle. Using the Port’s imaging system, officers detected anomalies in the doors, back seat, quarter panels, rocker panels and spare tire. The officers removed packages weighing about 220 pounds. The packages contained methamphetamine, valued at over $264,000. The teen was arrested and transported to the Imperial County Juvenile Detention Facility. The CBP seized the vehicle and the narcotics.
