A big rig overturned early Tuesday morning shutting down eastbound Interstate 8 for a time.
The accident was reported at about 3:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 8 near In-Ko-Pah. The big rig , an empty dump truck , overturned blocking both lanes of the freeway. While the trailers were empty there was debris spilled on the roadway as well as leaking fuel from a ruptured saddle tank. Both lanes of the freeway were closed for about an hour. One lane was to remain closed until about 10:00 a.m. Initial reports indicate the driver suffered major injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
