(Redeployment of California National Guard)…The order was signed by the Governor Tuesday.
The order temporarily extends the California National Guard’s authority to sustain the 100 member Joint Task Force currently supporting the US Customs and Border Protection Counter Terrorism Operations Center at the southern border. The extension will end March 31st, 2020. The focus of the Cal Guard members is on the prevention of the flow of illegal drugs and other forms of organized crime. Additionally, the new extension will include the interdiction of illegal pesticides, including the lethal and banned chemical that is increasingly found at illegal cannabis cultivation sites. The Cal Guard troops will not engage in the federal government’s immigration operations.
