(Unemployment up for Imperial County)….The latest numbers were released Friday morning.
The Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department says the latest numbers are for July. The jobless rate was recorded at 20.7 percent, up from the 18.7 percent recorded in June and above the year ago estimate of 20.1 percent. This compares with an unadjusted rate of 4.4 percent for the state and 4.0 percent for the nation during the same period. The report indicates there were 14,200 eligible workers unemployed in July out of a Labor Force of 68,900. Imperial County, once again, has the highest unemployment rate in the state.
