(Funding Opportunities for Census efforts)…In March the State awarded the Imperial County $284,435.
The funds were to develop and implement a local census strategic plan to ensure an accurate and complete count of Imperial County residents. A Majority of those funds will be distributed to local cities and non-profit organizations through a Request For Proposal to meet goals of the Imperial County Census Strategic Plan. The County has issued two RFP’s to coordinate with cities and organizations to assist in the education and outreach of the 2020 Census process and timeline, encouraging participation, motivating the hard-to-count population and assisting residents with completing census questionnaires. A total of $71,109 is available for non-profit organizations to assist unincorporated areas within the County. The deadline to submit an application is 5:00 pm on August 26th. Incorporated cities have until 5:00 pm on August 27th to submit applications for funding to assist with education and outreach within their respective city. A total of $156,439 is available through the RFP process.
