(First panels of border fence replaced)…This project is in Tecate.
US Customs and Border Protection, in partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers, began construction on June 11 of approximately 15 miles of new border wall system in place of dilapidated and outdated designs in the state of California within the US Border Patrol’s San Diego and El Centro Sectors. The projects include the construction of 30 foot tall steel Ballards and technology improvements. The projects were funded out of the CBP’s 2018 budget and are not part of the proposed Border Wall. The budget includes $88 million to replace 11 miles of border fence in the Calexico area. $39 million was awarded for the Tecate project.
