(FBI announces a promotion)…Scott Brunner has been named the new Special Agent In Charge of the San Diego Field Office.
The Field Office covers San Diego and Imperial Counties. Brunner started his FBI career as a special agent in 1995. He was first assigned to the Portland Field Office in Oregon, investigating violent and organized crime. In 2003 he was promoted to the Criminal Investigations Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington D.C. Brunner was selected to lead the FBI’s Safe Streets and Gang Unit at FBI Headquarters in 2009. Two years later he was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of criminal and administrative programs at the Louisville Field Office in Kentucky. Between 2014 and 2016 he served as the legal attaché in Bogota, Columbia. He was named Chief of the surveillance and aviation section of the Critical Incident Response Group, before being named deputy assistant Director of that Group in 2018. Brunner received a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and will receive a Master’s degree in unmanned systems from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University this summer.
