(April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month)….It was declared this week by the County Board of Supervisors.
A proclamation was presented to the Sure Helpline Crisis Center. The Center operates a 24 hour hotline, as well as services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and other traumas. They also host events during the month of April to bring awareness to the public and political representatives about domestic violence. The Sure Helpline Crisis Center will host a Benefit to Benefit the People in Crisis Gala Fundraiser tonight at the Desert Trails RV Park. It will not only feature a dinner, but they will also honor inspirational community leaders. There will be a Fashion Show with local law enforcement and community members, and live music. Later this month they will host the annual Walk A Mile In My Shows, in which male volunteers walk from the Courthouse in El Centro to the Town Square, wearing women’s high heal shows.
