Imperial County Superior Court Judge Juan Ulloa denied the County of Imperial's request to stop the strike called by the Imperial County Deputy District Attorneys Association.
The Deputy D.A.'s have voted to go on strike claiming the County has not been able to reach a new contract agreement with the attorneys. The County of Imperial initially took their case to the State Public Employment Relations Board and that board ruled over the weekend that the strike could go on. The County then went before the local judge with the position that the lawyers in the District Attorney's office are essential to the public health and safety. Judge Ulloa ruled that the impact of 15 Deputy District Attorneys going on strike was not significant enough to constitute a threat to public safety.
