(FDA and the CDC to adjust lettuce warning)….An official announcement is forthcoming.
Western Growers held talks with the FDA and Center for Disease Control. They were told of their intention to narrow the Romaine advisory stopping the sale and consumption of all Romaine Lettuce, allowing product not from the implicated regions and harvested on or after November 23rd, 2018 to enter the market. According to the FDA and CDC, the implicated regions are limited to the Central Coast of California and includes Salinas, Santa Maria and Oxnard. Western Growers said the official announcement was forthcoming and they would issue any necessary updates as more details become available. In the meantime, Canada has not committed to reopening their market for Romaine Lettuce. New labeling will include location and harvest date on the product.
