U. S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma Sector apprehended over 400 illegal aliens in a 48-hour period last week.
Just before midnight Tuesday , a group of 82 illegal aliens were seen crossing the border into the United States east of the San Luis port of entry. Most of the group were family units from Guatemala ranging in age from 2 to 88 years old.
About 4 hours later , a second group of illegal aliens were observed digging a hole under the fence near the San Luis Port. the second group , 83 individuals mostly from Guatemala and ranging in age from 2 to 40 years old , were taken into custody.
By the end of the day Wednesday , Yuma Station agents had apprehended 449 illegal immigrants , the vast majority of them from Central America.
