(The County applauds the Governor’s quick action)…Earlier this month the Governor signed AB 2746.
The bill had been introduced by Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia and sponsored by the County of Imperial. The bill closes a loophole affecting the sale of tax-defaulted properties when a bankruptcy is filed after the expiration of the right of redemption. Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors Ray Castillo said he applauded the Governor’s swift action to sign the bill so that the intent of the law is clarified and county tax collectors can proceed without the fear of litigation. Castillo said his Board also appreciated Assemblyman Garcia and his staff for their assistance in addressing the issue, and many other issues impacting Imperial County.
