(Contraband tossed over the fence)….It was recovered by Border Patrol agents
. It happened over the weekend. Ell Centro Sector Border Patrol agents responded to a call of a suspicious package in the middle of the street. The agents found a football shaped package wrapped in tape. Upon closer inspection the agents noticed an additional bundle in the grass about 50 yards away. It appeared to be a pistol wrapped in tape. Both items were seized. The football shaped package tested positive for marijuana, valued at around $600. The marijuana was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The second package turned out to be a Jennings Firearms Bryco-59, 9mm handgun, with one magazine and no ammunition. The serial number had been tampered with and was illegible. There were no arrests in the incident.
