(Pedestrian suffers fatal injuries)….It happened Saturday night.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident on southbound Highway 111, North of Worthington Road. The incident occurred at 10:25 pm. The CHP says a 31-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident was standing on the right shoulder of the Highway, due to an altercation that had occurred between passengers of a silver Nissan, which was also stopped on the right shoulder. A 2014 Nissan Rogue, driven by 41 year old Larry Arnold of Yuma was traveling southbound in the number two lane at around 65 miles per hour. The stopped Nissan apparently drove into the southbound lanes across both lanes, in front of the Rogue. To avoid a collision, the Yuma driver swerved, and collided with the pedestrian, inflicting fatal injuries. Arnold stopped his vehicle in the center median and immediately called 911.
