Brawley Police officers arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen vehicle Sunday.
According to the Brawley Police press release , at about 11:00 a.m. Sunday , officers were alerted to the possible stolen vehicle near a Brawley motel. The stolen vehicle detection was the result of the recently implemented Automated License Plate Reader Program ( ALPR). The program uses cameras mounted on police vehicle to take pictures of license plates and compare the information with reported stolen vehicles or license plates. During the investigation , a 40-year old Brawley man , Ryan Michael Ray , and a 33-year old Holtville woman , Ashley Garewal , were taken into custody. The pair were booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
