(All Ballots could be counted by Tuesday evening)…That is the latest goal.
The ballots are from the June 5th Primary Election. The latest update was released Saturday. According to the update, voter turnout now stands at 28.23 percent. The update does not change the results of any of the races, but it has brought some of the races closer. The race everybody is looking at the Imperial Irrigation District Division 3 race. Incumbent James Hanks still leads that race with 50.44 percent of the vote. Challenger Raul Navarro now trails Hanks with 49.28 percent. Just 41 votes separate the two. The Registrar of Voters office says even after the votes are all counted, the count will remain unofficial. According to the Elections Code, the Registrar of Voters must report the final results to the Secretary of State by July 6th, 2018, thereby certifying the local election results.
