The National Weather Service says an Excessive Heat Watch will be in effect Sunday. Temperatures across the lower desert will range from 105 to 107 degrees. The Weather Service says a prolonged period of widespread moderate heat risk will start Saturday, peaking Sunday with localized high heat risk. Highs of 100 to 104 will persist through the majority of next week. Between now and next Thursday, the hottest day will be Sunday. The National Weather Service says expect an increase in heat related illnesses for people exercising or working outdoors, as well as vulnerable populations without access to adequate air conditioning, especially the elderly.
